Deep cleaning is not a one-time cure. Periodontal disease has no known cure but it can be controlled with regular visits to our San Ramon dental office and diligent oral hygiene practices.
When you have gum disease, the deeper the pockets, the more buildup occurs in between appointments due to variations in the crown and root anatomy and access. Research has found that periodontal bacteria colonize in 3 to 4 months time, and so we recommend 3 to 4-month periodontal maintenance visits till adequate improvement is seen.
Depending on the extent of disease progression and buildup we might recommend additional rounds of deep cleanings. Lasers, antibiotic treatment, or periodontal referral may all be recommended depending on individual tissue response and healing.
Ultimately, without your compliance and cooperation, no matter how effective our hygiene measures, it will be an uphill battle. We don’t want your quality of life to be affected by diseased or infected teeth and are happy to support you in any way needed.
Please call our San Ramon dental office to arrange your next cleaning so we can discuss your needs and how we can help. We hope that you will Let us be team players in improving your oral health!
