Family & Cosmetic Dentistry

Advances in technology have touched just about every area of our lives in the past decade. Fortunately, your dental care is no exception!

When you visit Reflections Dental Spa, you have access to some of the most cutting-edge technology available in dentistry today. While we are researching new technology for our practice, we always focus on the benefits it brings to you and your dental care. Then we choose the equipment that will improve your oral health, make you feel more comfortable, and help you stay informed about your treatment.

Your comfort matters to us, and we think you'll find that the technology we work with really does make dental care easier!

The Wand Painless Injections

One of the most dreaded parts of dentistry for the patient is the discomfort of an injection with a syringe. At Reflections Dental Spa, we want every aspect of your visit to be gentle and comfortable. The Wand eliminates the worry about injections because it is a painless, computer-controlled dental anesthesia delivery system.

Usually, the discomfort associated with an injection is not caused by the needle, but by the pressure of the fluid going into the tissues. The design of the Wand provides a more comfortable and effective method that delivers the anesthetic at a slow, constant pressure that is a more comfortable and effective way to numb your mouth.

In fact, The Wand is so comfortable that many patients don't even realized they have received the injection!

Panoramic Digital X-Rays

Visual exams by a dentist are important, but they don't let us see what's happening deep within enamel or gum tissue. Panoramic digital x-rays allow us to find these problems when they’re small, long before they cause discomfort.

Our patients also like the safety of digital x-rays because significantly less radiation is required to produce these images compared to film x-rays. There are estimates that say digital x-rays reduce your exposure by as much as 80%!

Panoramic x-rays are used to take highly detailed, two-dimensional images that include the teeth, upper and lower jaws, and surrounding structures and tissues in just one x-ray. Digital panoramic imaging is quick and comfortable and significantly reduces your exposure to radiation.

The process is easy. We take extra-oral (outside the mouth) x-rays without the need for traditional x-ray films placed in your mouth. This technology is especially beneficial for young children who can’t tolerate intraoral (inside the mouth) x-rays.

ZOOM In-Office Whitening

Zoom! is one of the most popular and renowned whitening systems which produces the most spectacular results! This is one of our most requested treatments and we have seen improvement of up to 8 to 10 shades by a single in- office session depending on each persons teeth.

Call us to know  if this would be a great option for you!

Digital Impressions

The first step for many dental procedures involves taking dental impressions. Until recently, this meant sitting in the dental chair with a bulky metal tray and sticky impression material in your mouth.

At Reflections Dental Spa, we’ve invested in technology that helps eliminate this unpleasant procedure most of the time. This small instrument contains tiny camera lenses that are used to capture detailed video images of your teeth, ensuring highly accurate impressions. The result is increased comfort and precise-fitting restorations every time.

Digital Records

To make each of your visits as efficient as possible, we store all your patient information, history, and charts digitally. This important information is stored securely in our in-house system. While this method of record-keeping is easier on the environment, it also provides easy access to the details we need to help us make the most appropriate decisions about your dental treatment. Electronic records also allow us to easily send records to specialists or your insurance company as needed.

Intraoral Camera

We are always happy to invest in new technology when it will provide our patients with an accurate picture of their oral health and a better understanding of our recommendations. Until recently, there was no way for patients to see exactly what the dentist was seeing during an exam. Now, intraoral cameras provide us with the perfect tool for sharing important information about your oral health with you.

An intraoral camera is a small handheld instrument about the size of a pen. As Dr. Thomas directs the camera over your teeth, the images are projected directly onto a computer monitor mounted next to your chair. Since you see what Dr. Thomas sees, you can better understand what the problem is, why it needs to be addressed, and what we can do to fix it.

Nitrous Oxide

If you suffer from dental anxiety, you are not alone. Some estimates say that up to 15% of Americans suffer from dental phobia. That’s over 30 million people!

Our goal here at Reflections Dental Spa is to provide you with such a soothing, calming experience that your dental anxiety melts away. But a lot of patients need a little extra help relaxing, and that's where nitrous oxide comes in.

Nitrous oxide is a gas that's mixed with oxygen and delivered through a small nasal mask. You don't have to do anything but sit back and breathe normally while the nitrous helps you gently relax.

One of the advantages of nitrous oxide is that it will not put you to sleep. Nitrous is designed to deliver short-term relaxation, which lasts just long enough to help you stay calm during your procedure. Our team is trained to safely administer nitrous, and we will monitor your progress throughout your appointment.

Our patients particularly like nitrous because there are no lingering effects. When we stop administering the gas, the effects dissipate quickly. You can return to work or school, and you do not need a driver to get you to and from your appointment.

The Oral Cancer Foundation estimates that nearly 50,000 cases of oral cancer are diagnosed in America each year. Unfortunately, oral cancer can be difficult to detect with the naked eye, and many cases go undiscovered until the disease has reached advanced states.

Your safety and well-being are important to us, so every exam includes an oral cancer screening. We also offer a VELscope exam as an adjunct. VELscope is an effective device that allows us to detect mucosal abnormalities, which includes cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions long before they can be detected during a visual exam.

Early oral cancer screening is vital to your overall health as these early exams have been found to increase the survivability rate to as much as 90 percent.

CariVu Caries Detector

CariVu caries detector is an innovative technology that gives Dr. Thomas the ability to see in and around a tooth like never before. This small and portable device takes advantage of the fact that teeth are translucent. This means that light can pass through them partially so they can be illuminated by the CariVu device using transillumination technology. Transillumination lights up the internal structure of your tooth, allowing us to detect problems like cracks and decay without the need for x-rays.

The device looks like a wand but is actually a small camera. The CariVu has two light sources built into its head that do the illuminating. The flexible head conforms to the shape of the tooth and lights it up. The center of the head has a camera that shows the tooth on screen as it is lit up, which gives us a look inside its structure. Since pathologies like cracks and decay change the density of your tooth structure, these will show up as dark lines or spots of darkness on the monitor. This image allows Dr. Thomas to clearly identify the problem and plan treatment accordingly.

Soft Tissue Laser

Treating cases of periodontal disease with scaling and root planning and a soft tissue laser as an adjunct can improve overall periodontal health and help reduce the possibility for the need for invasive gum surgery. Dental lasers are a state-of-the-art approach for removing infected gum tissue, reducing the periodontal bacteria and help stimulate healing.

Since a laser is less invasive than traditional methods, you will experience fast healing times and easier recovery.
